HELIOS, an ode to the beauty and greatness of creation
The landscape around Degersheim is characterized by two 21-meter high sequoias.
One Sequoia is hollow inside and can be walked on as a temple of nature.
The Helios Temple manifests respect for nature, the trees and Mother Earth.
The Helios Temple tree comes from the Helios nursing home in Goldach and was transported to Degersheim on October 5, 2005 with a weight of 29 tons, the tree was erected again in the garden of Klangarena.
The Sequoia Temple (Helios and Helix)
Giant sequoia trees are one of the largest living creatures brought forth by creation.
They already existed in the time of the dinosaurs. Petrified specimens of them can be found in the Swiss mountains above the Albula Pass.
With two of these trees the Sequoia Temple (large picture above) was created, which represents both the female and the male principle:
- Left HELIX, DNA (as a spiral staircase) and cones, male
- Right HELIOS, with germinating cone in the base, female
From the HELIX cone the wind carries the tree seeds to the HELIOS, where they find the water to germinate. The birth of new life!
In the middle is man in his responsibility for creation.
